    • Here it is declared in this document what Æthelflæd has bequeathed for the praise of God and for the benefit of her soul and her lord’s soul: that is the four hides of land at Laver and the two hides at Cockhampstead which she grants for her soul and for her lord’s soul to St Paul’s minster in London for the sustenance of the brethren who daily serve God there; with the full permission of King Æthelred, in the presence of the men whose names are written here: that is, Archbishop Æthelnoth and Archbishop Wulfstan and Ælfhun bishop of London and Abbot Ælfric and Abbot Wigheard and Abbot Ælfsige of Cowwaford and Ealdorman Ælfhere and Ealdorman Brihtnoth and Ealdorman Eadric and Ælfsige the king’s thegn and Wulfgeat the sheriff and Frena the king’s thegn; and whatsoever man alter this bequest may he be a companion of Judas who betrayed our Lord in the torment of Hell.
